Processing The Pandemic

I saw this on social media today, and it hits home a bit. I feel like many people I know, myself, most friends, and my clients included, were affected by the tensions and worries and stresses and contractions of the pandemic, some of us over several years.

And then, there is still the reality of ongoing COVID infections, and several people I care for and know with symptoms of Long COVID, seeking to adjust and cope, and find resources for care.

How was the time of 2020-2023 for you? What changes did it bring? What struggles are ongoing?

I have observed that the changes in our social circle sizes – for many of us, our circles in real life have grown smaller. And sometimes we have spent extra time with those in our more intimate circles, which created all sorts of changed dynamics.

For some, there are extra layers of enmeshment and some loss of our differentiated self that we may need to observe and reclaim as we move forward.

I think many of us struggle still to understand what happened inside of us, but I believe something did. I encourage you to try to sit with the feelings, search for the words, and identify any parts you can in order to digest it more fully.
